Cowboy Steak House

The story goes that in 1977, the Cowboy Steak House opened and Richard Ferris quickly became one of its favorite patrons. After the restaurant had been in business but a few months, Richard says to Lorrie, “We’re buying the Steak House.” Lorrie replied, “We don’t know anything about running a restaurant”. Two months later, they owned the place “lock, stock, barrel … and staff!” Originally located at 506 Junction Highway, Richard and Lorrie Ferris built the Legend, the RLF brand, and the reputation that’s now Kerrville’s Cowboy Steak House.

Our Place…

You’ll find our warm and comfortable atmosphere and people interesting and relaxing. From jeans to formals, Timex to Rolex, beer to Beringer, our’s is the place. From the moment you step-in, you’ll learn why the Cowboy Steak House is such a legend with its mesquite-broilling grill right out front!

Our dining areas are diverse and eclectic featuring artwork from many corners of the globe blended together in Texas’ Hill Country construction. Western, Mexican, European, Native American, even African pieces can be found throughout the restaurant.

For the more social, our complete bar features bar-stools that find themselves rolling from table-to-table, three televisions, a place one can actually still smoke, walls full of history, and our famous… ‘Liar’s Pit ‘

Our party rooms are available for larger groups and special occasions are (almost) always available. We love hosting parties and private engagements, dinner meetings, and our own Vinyard Dinners and seasonal decorating parties (you should see what we do for Christmas)! Our party rooms configure great for various sized groups, and if your group’s large enough, we’ll even sneak ya’ll in the “back door” for a private luncheon.
