Peggy’s on the Green

Lounge on the broad, breezy wraparound porch, cocktail in hand. Step into a lovingly restored 19th century dining room to savor contemporary interpretations of Southern heritage foods and classic American dishes. Sit down to a familiar, casual, satisfying menu influenced by seasonal bounty from area farms and the affinity of beef and mesquite smoke that is the soul of the Hill Country.

Mark Bohanan is Chef/Owner of Bohanan’s, the highly-regarded prime steak and seafood restaurant in downtown San Antonio. Last year he cast his eye north, intent on establishing a South-inspired, all-American restaurant in Boerne. Peggy’s on the Green is the result – named for Mark’s late mother, who was a great cook in her own right. Located in the gracious, historically-significant Kendall Inn, a 19th century stagecoach stop that’s offered Texas hospitality since 1859.

Chef Mark Bohanan and Peggy’s on the Green are featured in the cover article of NBIZ Magazine’s Restaurant Issue.

“As a kid growing up in Jourdanton, I watched my grandma make everything from scratch every day. My grandfather was the king of the barbeque. I cooked some, too, but I did a lot more watching, tasting and learning.” – Chef Mark Bohanan
